How to maintain a mother-baby bond

A mother’s connection to her baby is nothing short of magnificent. It is telepathy that only someone who has experienced it can describe.

Bonding is an instinct that makes a baby feel loved, wanted, and cared for. The same goes for a mother, where she feels appreciated and loved. A baby will often want to stay with the mother throughout the day. Maintaining this bond can be achieved in various ways.

“I could not bond with my baby, blame it on the needs of life, and being a single mother. She was almost always with her nanny. I remember being so stressed about it. Eventually I figured it out and would recommend the following steps”. Tess Ndinda.

First, it is good to cuddle especially after they wake up from a nap or before they go to sleep. It gives the baby the calm that they crave at this time. At this point, a mother can feel close to the baby and watch out for any signs of discomfort and correct them. It is perfect because I am a single working mum. I’m at home early in the morning and in the evenings.

Allowing your baby to help you. Sometimes parents miss out on opportunities for closeness by not allowing their child to help them with various tasks and chores. A good example is allowing your baby help organizing his/her toys.

Playing with your child. Get down on the floor and play with your children. Play with dolls, or sing songs. It does not matter what you play, just enjoy each other and commit to giving your undivided attention.

Get your goofy face on. Get your baby to have a blast by wiggling your eyebrows and sticking out your tongue, and prepare for your heart to explode when you finally get baby to smile.
